The Set Styles: Comprehensive and Partial dialog guides you through the process of naming a style and setting the formatting commands.
| 1 | The Style Type drop list at the top of the dialog will reflect the type of Style selected in the previous dialog (Comprehensive or Partial). This can be changed by using the drop list. |
| 2 | If you are setting a Comprehensive Style, the next large portion of the Set Styles: Comprehensive and Partial dialog will be active. Use this portion of the dialog to set the formatting commands as follows: |
| • | Use the check boxes to indicate which formatting commands you want to set explicitly. Check boxes that are clear will be set implicitly (i.e., according to the the formats in effect where the style is defined). |
| • | There are five buttons in this portion of the dialog (Indentation, Alignment, Spacing, Tabs and Font), each associated with one or more check boxes. If you have checked any of the check boxes associated with one of the buttons, click on the button to enter the settings. |
| 3 | If you are setting a Comprehensive Style and want to include text as part of the style, check the Text (Optional) box and enter the text |
| 4 | If you are setting a Partial Style, the top portion of the dialog will be inactive. Use the Formats (& Text) portion of the dialog to set the formatting commands. Click on the Options button and then any of the formatting buttons that appear to set the formatting commands. |
| 5 | Use the preview window to review the effects of the settings you choose. |
| 6 | Type in the name of your style in the Style Name box at the bottom of the dialog. |
| 7 | Press OK to set the style, or Cancel to abandon the changes without saving or setting a style. |
