Track Changes: RED, PE, CE commands

With Nota Bene's track changes feature, you can markup text so that additions are shown as double underlined and deletions are shown as strike through. The RED command (redlining) is used to turn track changes on and the same command turns it off. When track changes is on, any text you enter will be double-underlined and any text you delete will be shown with a line through it. A TX command is inserted in the file. See Track Changes Commands in Codes View.  After marking the text, changes can be reviewed and accepted or rejected. The PE command (put edit) is used to accept changes and the CE command (clear edit) is used to reject (or clear) changes. To review changes one at a time, the PEV command (put edit with verification) and the CEV command (clear edit with verification) are used.

To turn Track Changes on:

1Press F9 to access the action line.
2Type red
3Press F10 to implement the command.
4Begin making changes in the document by typing or deleting text. Additions will be shown as double underlined and deletions will be shown as strike through.

To turn Track Changes off:

1Press F9 to access the action line.
2Type red
3Press F10 to implement the command. Note that if the command red is already on the action line, steps 1 and 2 can be omitted. The command red toggles redlining on and off.

To accept all changes:

1Press F9 to access the action line.
2Type pe
3Press F10 to implement the command.

To reject or clear all changes:

1Press F9 to access the action line.

To accept some but not all changes:

1Press F9 to access the action line.
2Type pev
3Press F10 to implement the command.
4The cursor will move from one change to the next and you will be prompted to indicate whether you want to accept each change or not.
Yes indicates that you do want to accept the change (or put the edit).  Double underlining will be removed and the text will remain.  Text marked with a strike through will be deleted.
A No answer will keep the redlining in place.  It will not clear the edit.  This must be done with the ce or cev command.

To reject or clear some but not all changes:

1Press F9 to access the action line.
2Type cev
3Press F10 to implement the command.
4The cursor will move from one change to the next and you will be prompted to indicate whether you want to clear the edit or not.
Yes indicates that you do want to clear the edit.  Text marked with strike through will be restored and text that is double underlined will be deleted.
A No answer will keep the redlining in place.  It will not accept the edit.  This must be done with the pe or pev command.

NB:

Track Changes remains on only as long as the file is open. It will always be off when a file is reopened.
When Track Changes is on, you cannot access Show Codes View.  After turning Track Changes off, Show Codes View can be accessed.
