Editing Accents

When one or more accents or marks have been added to a letter, you can delete one or more accents, add an accent or change the order in which accents are stacked. Note that if you have added one or more accents above (or below) a letter, they will be stacked in the order they were added unless you use the Word Components dialog to change the order.

1Place the cursor immediately after the letter you want to edit.
2Click Tools, Lingua, Edit Accents (or press Ctrl+Shift+E). The Word Components dialog will appear on your screen.
3Click on the accent or mark that you want to edit or press the left or right arrows on your keyboard (not the arrows on the dialog) to move the arrow on the screen so that the gray arrow is pointing down to the accent or mark that you want to edit. The yellow arrow should be pointing to the line immediately after the accent that you want to edit.
To delete the accent, press the Delete button on your keyboard or click the square with the image of the scissors directly above the accent you are editing
To add an accent, press the Insert button on your keyboard. The Insert accent/character dialog will appear on your screen. Use this dialog to insert a new accent (see instruction number 3 in Lingua: accents for more information on how to use this dialog).
To change the order in which accents are stacked, (1) click the left or right arrows on the dialog above the accent you are editing to move the accent or letter that you are editing or (2) press Ctrl+ the left or right arrows on your keyboard to move the accent or letter that you are editing.
4The original and the modified forms of the letter and accent that you were editing are displayed at the top of the dialog. If the modified form is correct, click Save.  If it is not correct, repeat step 3 until you have made the adjustments you want and then click Save. To return to the original form of the letter and accents, click Cancel.

Certain diacritical marks can be rendered in different ways and Lingua gives you certain options to select the appearance. You can change the form through the Font-Rendering Options dialog. For more information, see Font-rendering options.
