Language: LA command

Language (LA) commands are used by the spell checker and thesaurus to identify which dictionary to use for the text that follows the command. An LA command should be inserted wherever the language changes.

Language commands can be entered in the text using the Language Bar (see Multilingual Spell Check) or using the action line. LA commands can also be entered or edited in Codes view.

To use the action line to enter a language command:

1Place your cursor where the language will change.
2Press F9 to access the action line.
3Type LA followed by a space and then the language that is being used in the following block of text. For example:
LA Spanish
4Press F10 to enter the command.

The LA command will be in effect for all of the following text, until a different LA command it inserted in the text.
