Ibidem Modes |
|
There are two modes or ways of running Ibidem. The two modes offer the same functionality, but with a slightly different on-screen display. To change from one mode to the other, click View and click to check the mode that you would like to use.
Popup Dialog Mode
Popup Mode is similar to Ibidem in Nota Bene version 12 and previous versions. A database pane is on the left, a record pane on the right, and a preview pane under the record pane. When the other panes/actions are invoked (search, subsets, cite, links), these dialogs pop up in the center of the Ibidem screen, and then disappear when an action on them is implemented, or when you press [Esc], or click back into the table or record pane. These other panes are not shown as tabs on the left and right, but must be invoked using the view menu or keyboard shortcuts (e.g., Ctrl+F to Find/Search). This mode is the default mode. Unless otherwise noted, the help materials will assume that you are operating in popup mode.
Slide-Out/Docking Mode
Slide-Out/Docking Mode is new in version 13. It is preferred on larger screens and/or for experienced NB users. This mode gives many options for arranging your Ibidem screen. The database pane is the primary pane and it will always be displayed. There are six dockable and floatable panes. By default, the record pane and the preview pane are open and docked. Other panes (search, subsets, cite, links) can be "slid-out" and/or docked. To slide a pane out, click on one of the tabs on the left or right of the Ibidem screen. You can also slide a pane out by selecting it on the View menu, or by using the Alt shortcuts shown on the View menu. When you slide a pane out, it will be floating on top of other panes. To dock a pane, click the pin icon at the top right of the pane. To remove the pane from the display (returning to the tab on the side of the screen), click the pin icon again.
