Year is one of the seven Field Types available in Ibidem. Data entered in fields that are identified as Year fields should be entered using four digits.
Entering publication years in your records
Enter the year in which the work was published, enacted, written issued or produced using four digits:
1986
If the work has a more specific date (a day, a month, a quarter, etc.), as do broadcasts, performances, and similar works, enter those details in the Date field. Only the year should be entered in the Year field.
In Press/Forthcoming Enter the year in which the article was accepted for publication, and an indication that the work is in press or forthcoming, in pointed brackets:
1999 <in press> 1999 <forthcoming>
Title includes date If the title of the work includes the date of publication (e.g., Annual Report, 1975), enter the date in curly braces in the YR field. Ibidem will then sort on that date, but not print it a second time:
{1975}
Republished books If you are entering a work that has been republished, you may wish to include information on the original publication date in angle brackets:
1983 <1921>
There are a number of other possible variations:
1983 <New York: Arno, 1921> 1973 <London: 1847> 1982 <New York: White Press> 1967 <White Press, 1902>
Republished letters Republished letters are entered with a more precise date (where known):
1983 <6 March 1939>
