The Date and Time dialog is used to insert the date and/or the time in the text or in a header or footer. This dialog can be accessed by pressing Insert, Date/Time or through the Header/Footer window. To insert the date or time in a running header or footer, the Date and Time dialog must be accessed through the Header/Footer window.
To insert the date or the time or both, complete the following information and then click OK.
Date: If you want to insert the date, check the box marked "Date."
| • | Today's date is shown. (This date is taken from your computer's internal calendar) If you would like to insert a different date, click New Date and use the calendar to select the date to be inserted. |
| • | Use the radio buttons to select American or European date formats. |
| • | Select one of the formats from the list below. |
| • | If you are not satisfied with the predefined formats, click New Format to create your own format. Using the symbols shown in the Customize Date Formats dialog and any punctuation, type in your new format. For example, if you want the date inserted with the year first, a colon and then the month in caps (1999: APRIL), you would type yyyy: MMMM. |
Time: If you want to insert the time, check the box marked "Time."
| • | The current time is shown. (The time is taken from your computer's internal clock) |
| • | Use the radio buttons to select 12 hour or 24 hour format. |
| • | Check the box if you want to include seconds. |
Fixed or Auto Adjusting: Select the Fixed radio button if you want to insert the current date and/or time. Select Auto Adjusting if you want the date and/or time to be automatically updated whenever the file is called to the screen or printed.
