Nota Bene templates use the following extensions:
.sm academic style manuals
.let letters
.fax faxes
.mem memos
.doc other documents
To specify a new extension to be used for a new type of template:
| 1 | Click File, New. The New Standard Document dialog will appear on your screen. |
| 2 | Click the Manage Tabs button just under the the Filename box. The Template Extensions dialog will appear on your screen. |
| 3 | Type a new extension in the Template Extension box. The extension must consist of one, two or three characters. It is not necessary to type the period before the one, two or three characters. |
| 5 | Enter a name for the new extension in the Short Name box. This is the name that will appear on the tab associated with this extension. The ampersand (&) can be used to specify a letter in the name on the tab that is underlined and can be used to move to that tab by pressing Alt and the specified letter. For example, type &ABC to produce the tab ABC or A&BC to produce the tab ABC. |
| 6 | Enter a description in the Description box. |
| 7 | Select a BMP image to associate with the new extension. |
| 8 | Click OK on the Template Extensions dialog. |
| 9 | Click OK on the New Standard Document dialog. |
The new tab will appear in the New Standard Document dialog after you exit and reopen Nota Bene.
You can also use the Template Extensions dialog to delete or edit the extensions/tabs or to change the order in which the tabs appear in the New Standard Document dialog.
