Custom Format for Subject Bibliographies

Ibidem lets you define Custom Formats for your subject bibliographies that will print any of the fields in your databases. The process for creating a custom format for a non-bibliographic database is the same, except that the custom format is created for a "subject report" rather than for a "subject bibliography."

To create a Custom Format:

1Click Edit, Custom Format, Subject Bibliography. The Subject Bibliography Custom Forms dialog will display.
2Click the New button on the Subject Bibliography Custom Forms dialog. The Custom Format: New dialog will display.
3Enter a Description for the Custom Format in the text box.
4Enter a filename for the Custom Format in the text box.
5Set the Number Citations option to your preference.
6Check the fields in the Fields list box to include in your Custom Format. Make certain that Formatted Citation is checked if you want to simply add fields to a predefined Standard format (such as AAA, APA, MLA).
7Set the option to Include Fields for Record Only if Field Contains Data to your preference. If you leave this option unchecked, Ibidem will write blank spaces when the field is blank.
8Click OK to save the Custom Format.

Use the Edit button on the Subject Bibliography Custom Forms dialog to edit a previously created custom format. Use the Copy button on the Subject Bibliography Custom Forms dialog to create a new custom format based on a previously created custom format.

After you have created a custom format, you can generate a subject bibliography with the custom format you have defined.

1Click Generate, Subject Bibliography. The Generate Subject Bibliography dialog will display.
2Click the option to use Customized Forms for the bibliography.
3Click the Customized Form description from the drop list.
4Click OK
