Border Margins/Gutters Dialog |
|
The Border Margins/Gutters dialog is used to set the distance between the text and the borders of tables or snaking columns. To access this dialog, click Format, Tables or Format, Snaking Columns. Then click either Create or Edit. Finally, click the Gutters button in the bottom right corner of the dialog on your screen.
The top slider control on the left half of the dialog is used to set the distance between the top border and the top edge of the text. The bottom slider control on the left half of the dialog is used to set the distance between the bottom border and the bottom edge of the text. The blue arrows point to the border margins that are being set.
The slider control on the top right of the dialog sets the outside margins, i.e., the cell margins that are closest to the left and right margins of the page. The red arrows on the left and right edge of the diagram point to the cell margins that are being set.
The second slider control on the top right of the dialog sets the inside margins, i.e., the margins that are between two columns or two cells in a table. The red arrows in the middle of the diagram point to the space that is being set. Set the slider control for the full distance from the vertical edge of the text through the border to the next vertical edge of text.
