Backing Up Note-Taking Files |
|
When you create a linked note-taking file in Ibidem, by default, those files are stored in a subfolder of your Ibidem database folder. The subfolder is given the name of the database files followed by the number 1. For example, the note-taking files for the My Library database will be stored in a subfolder of your main database folder called My Library1.
When you backup your database using File, Backup Database, you will be prompted to indicate whether you want linked files to be backup up at the same time (either Note-Taking files or other Link types). The links and linked files will be backed up to the same archive file as the rest of the database files. This will create an NBB file which can be transferred to another computer.
However, if you do not use the defaults and choose to store your linked files in a different location or locations, those files will not be automatically backed up when you backup your database using either of the two methods (File, Copy/Backup Database or Windows Explorer). If you wish to backup your linked files at the same time that you backup your database, you will need to take the extra step of finding the folder with the linked files and backing that up manually.
