Adding a Framework to an Existing Document |

While it is generally easiest to insert a framework before beginning a paper, it is possible to add a framework or outline to a document that did not previously contain one.
Open the file to which you want to apply a framework/outline Go to Format, Style Manual, and select the style you want to use Click OK to display the Add Style Manual / Framework dialog where you can: Select the title Mark the beginning and end of the body text Mark the beginning and end of any reference list (optional) After doing so, click Continue to Add Style to go to the Style Manual dialog Any title you selected above should be copied into the title field on the second Title tab You can make any selections/changes as your normally would Then click OK to continue When asked if you want to add/update paragraph headings, click Yes If you stop here now, you can continue later by displaying the Framework/Outline Navigate/View dialog bar (Alt + N), and then selecting the green rotating arrow icon near the top right of that dialog bar This will display the Framework/Outline Navigate/View dialog bar Make sure that you are at the top of the file Add framework/outline structures to each title Click Find Next Title to have NB detect a possible title The potential title text will be highlighted Either: Indicate the level of that title OR Skip and Continue The title will appear in the Navigation bar If NB identifies (by highlighting) a block indented region, confirm or continue
