Add Synonym File

When you create a new textbase, a file is created with the filename you selected when you created the textbase and the extension .syn. If you would like to use this file instead of the default synonym file, you must first add it to the list of files in the Orbis Synonym Files dialog. You can also create an entirely new file and use it as a synonym file.

To add a synonym file that has already been created (e.g., the .syn file that was created when you created your textbase):

1Click Edit, Synonym List. Nota Bene will open the Orbis Synonym Files dialog with the most recently used synonym file active.
2Click Add New File.
3Browse to the file that you would like to add. Click to select the file, then click OK.
4 Fill in the description. The description is a title that will be used to select the file in the future. A few words should be sufficient.
5 Click OK and then Select.

To create a new synonym file:

1Click Edit, Synonym List, Edit. Nota Bene will open the Orbis Synonym Files dialog.
2Click the New button at the bottom of the dialog. The Orbis Synonym Files New dialog will open.
3Fill in the description and the file name. The description is a title that will be used to select the file in the future.
4 Use the dialog to add headwords and synonyms (see instructions above).
5 Click OK and then Select.
