Subset Management

The Subset Management dialog is used to delete or update a subset or to rename, copy or append. With your database open, open the Subset Pane (click View, Subset Pane) and click the Manage button. This will open the Subset Management dialog. This dialog can also be opened by clicking Manage on the Subset Save/Append dialog.

The Entire Database and any defined subsets will be listed. Click to select the subset you want to manage. The options in this dialog affect which records are included in a given subset and the name of the subset. They have no effect at all on the underlying records in the database. The following options are available:

Rename

Opens the name of the subset for editing so that you can change the name by adding and/or deleting text.

Copy

Makes a copy of the existing subset under the name "Copy of X" where X is the original name of the subset.

Append

Introduces an Append to button. Select a second subset by clicking on the subset and then click Append to. The second subset will then be changed to include all of the records in the first subset (the subset that was selected when you clicked Append). Note that this will change the second subset to a non-updating subset.

Update

Updates a subset so that new records that match the criteria established for the subset are included. This option is not active for non-updating subsets.

Delete

Deletes the selected subset. This option deletes the subset only. It does not delete the underlying records from the database.
