Print Dialog

Open the Print dialog by clicking File, Print or by pressing Ctrl+P or by clicking the Print button. The print dialog offers the following options.

File to Print: The drive, path and file name should be specified in this box. Nota Bene will automatically insert the drive, path and file name of the open file. To print a different file, type in the drive, path and file name or click the browse button to locate the file.

Print Version from Disk: If this box is checked, Nota Bene will print the version of the file from the disk, ignoring any unsaved changes that may have been made. Click the box to the left of the words "Print Version from Disk" to check or clear this option.

Pages:  Click the radio button next to one of the following options

Entire Document: to print the entire document.
Page Range: After clicking the Page Range radio button, page ranges can be entered using one of two methods:
*Click the ... icon and enter up to 5 ranges of pages to be printed.  Single pages can be printed by entering the page number in the "From" column and leaving the "To" column blank.
*Type in page ranges or individual pages. Use a hyphen between the beginning and end of a range of pages and use a forward slash to separate non-contiguous pages or ranges. For example, to print pages 2 through 10, 16, and 30 through 50, type 2-10/16/30-50
Current Page: to print the page where the cursor is.
Selected Text:  to print a block of defined text. This option is available only if a block of text was selected or defined before the print dialog was opened.

Odd/Even Pages: If you want to print just the odd numbered pages or just the even numbered pages, click the radio button for Odd Pages or Even Pages. This may be useful for double-sided printing where the odd pages are printed first and then the even pages are printed on the reverse side of the odd pages.

Copies:  If you want to make more than one copy, fill in the number of copies in the Number of Copies box. This can be done by typing in the number, by dragging the slider bar under the box or by clicking the arrows at the side of the box to increase or decrease the number of copies.

Collate: If you are making more than one copy, the collate option is active. If the collate box is checked, Nota Bene will print one full copy of the document (or the specified pages) before beginning to print the second copy.  If the collate box is cleared (i.e., not checked), Nota Bene will print all copies of the first page, then all copies of the second page, etc. Click the box to the left of the word "Collate" to check or clear this option.

Printer: The printer you plan to use should be shown in the box marked "Printer." To change the selection, click on the arrow to the right of the box and highlight a different printer. When printer drivers don’t load properly, the Print dialog will display “[No Printer Installed]”

Reselect/Select:  This button allows you to select a printer without actually printing. The button will be labeled "Reselect" if there has been no change in the white box marked "Printer" and it will be labeled "Select" if there has been a change. Nota Bene uses the active printer driver to generate the display.  If you are prompted to select a new printer, this can be done without printing by choosing a new printer in the white box marked "Printer" and then clicking the Select button. Then click Close to close the dialog without printing.  Windows XP users may be prompted to select a new printer under certain circumstances.  Those who are using earlier version of Windows should have no need for this function. If you want to change do a different printer and then print, you do not need to use this button. Just select the printer that you want to use in the box marked "Printer" and then click OK.

Setup: This button takes you to the Properties dialog for the active printer. Use this button to set the orientation (portrait or landscape), print multiple pages on each sheet (2-up, 4-up, etc.) and other options supported by your printer. Options will vary depending on the printer that you are using.
