Orbis Properties: Keyword Type

 

The Orbis Properties dialog is opened when you click File, Nexus Options, View/Set Properties from the Orbis screen with a textbase open. The following options and settings are available on the Keyword Type tab of the Orbis Properties dialog:

 

Keyword Types

Defines the Keyword Types for the current textbase.

 

Every Word in Entry is a Keyword

The default setting for new textbases is to index each word in an entry as a keyword. To override this default, click to clear the Every Word in an Entry is a Keyword radio button.

 

Omit List

The default setting for new textbases is to ignore words on the omit list as the index and management files are created. To override this default, click to uncheck the Omit List check box.

 

Filename

Orbis includes a pre-defined omit list to use as textbases are indexed. To use another file as your omit list, enter the filename in the Omit List Filename text box.

 

Manage Omit List

Click the Manage Omit List button to edit the Standard Omit List included with Orbis, or another file which you have created, click Manage.

 

Only Words in Designated Keyword Area are Keywords

The default setting for new textbases is to index each word in the text as a keyword. You can override this setting if you have prepared the documents you are indexing to include special keyword areas in each entry by clicking to select the Only Words in Designated Keyword Area are Keywords radio button.

 

Keyword Area

Start Marker

Enter the character you have used to mark the beginning of the keyword area.

 

End Marker

Enter the character you have used to mark the end of the keyword area, if any.

 

Case Treatment

 

All Different Cased Forms are Identical

The default setting for new textbases is to ignore case distinctions as words are indexed. JOB, for instance, will be retrieved along with job and Job.

 

Each Different Cased Form is Distinct

Click to select this setting if you want to index words in your textbase so that case distinctions are recognized. When the Each Different Case Form is Distinct radio button is selected, words with different cases will be indexed as different keywords. Job, for instance, is distinct from Job.

 

Accents

 

Find Matches if Search String Includes all Accents/Modifiers

With this setting, a search for Zoë would find only Zoë, not Zoe. A search for Zoe would find only Zoe, not Zoë.

 

Find Matches if Search String Omits all Accents/Modifiers (use only base characters)

This is the default setting. A search for Zoë would find Zoë or Zoe. A search for Zoe would find Zoe or Zoë.
