Justification Options

When text is justified, additional space is added so that the text on each line takes up exactly the same amount of space and the end of the line is at exactly the same place on the right margin. You can control whether extra spacing is inserted only between words, or also between letters within the words. By default, most of the space is added between words.

The justification setting can be changed on the Spacing tab on the Page Layout dialog or on the Alignment tab on the Paragraph Settings dialog. To change the justification setting:

1Click Format, Page Layout and click the Spacing tab or click Format, Paragraph and click the Alignment tab.
2Click to check the Justify box (or don't click if it is already checked).
3Use the slider control to select a value between 1 and 99. The default setting is 10. A lower setting will put more of the extra space between letters within the words and a higher setting will put more of the extra space between words.

Note that this setting affects all subsequent printing, until changed. It is not document specific.
