Customize Entry Templates

 

Ibidem provides you with a number of entry templates for different types of bibliographic resource materials. You can create a new entry template that is specifically tailored to your particular research project, or edit any of the existing templates to add fields you need for your work. In many non-bibliographic databases, you will want to customize entry templates or create new ones.

 

To edit a data entry template:

 

1Click File, Properties to open the Properties dialog.
2Click the tab for Entry Templates.
3Click to highlight the name of the Entry Template you would like to edit.
4In the Fields in Template area, click to select or clear fields on the template.
5To change the label for a field on the template, click Edit when any of the fields is highlighted
8Click the Up or Down buttons to change the order in which the fields appear on the data entry template.
9Click OK to save the data entry template definition.

 

To create a new data entry template:

 

1Click File, Properties to open the Properties dialog.
2Click the tab for Entry Templates.
3Click the Add button, and enter a name for the new data entry template.
4In the Fields in Template area, click the check box for a field to include it on the new template.
5To change the label for the field on the new data entry template, click Edit when any of the fields is highlighted
6Click the Up or Down buttons to change the order in which the fields appear on the data entry template.
7Click OK to save the data entry template definition.

 

To view the customized data entry template

 

1Open the database with the customized template.
2Click Edit, New Record.
3Click on the name of the customized data entry template in the drop list.

Ibidem will display a blank record, with the customized data entry template.
