Delete Record

You can delete a single record from an Ibidem database, or multiple records at the same time. Once a record has been deleted, it cannot be restored. If you delete one or more records, you do not regain use of the record numbers that were assigned to the deleted records. Instead, the program uses the next sequential number for the next record added. Having "gaps" in record numbers in a database is not a problem; in fact, it is to be expected.

To delete one record:

1 Click on the record you want to delete delete in the table pane so that it is displayed in the record pane.
2Use one of the following methods to open the Delete Record dialog:

Click Edit, Delete Record

Press Ctrl+Shift+Del

Click the Delete Record button at the top right of the Ibidem screen

3 The Delete Record dialog will open with the option to delete the selected record selected.
4Click OK.

To delete multiple records at the same time:

1 Click to place a check mark next to each record that you want to delete, or place a check mark next to each record that you want to retain. If you want to delete all of the records in the database, skip to step 2.
2Use one of the following methods to open the Delete Record dialog:

Click Edit, Delete Record

Press Ctrl+Shift+Del

Click the Delete Record button at the top right of the Ibidem screen

3 The Delete Record dialog will open. Select one of the following:

Marked (Checked) Records: Select this option to delete all of the records that you marked in step 1.

Unmarked (Unchecked) Records: Select this option to delete all of the records except those that you marked in step 1.

All Records in Database: Select this option to delete all of the records in the database.
