The F2 key can be used to select a "free form" block of text. Move the cursor to where you want to begin the defined block and press F2. Using the arrow keys, move the cursor to where the block ends and press F2 again to set the define. You can expand or shrink the defined block with this method by using the arrow keys to move the cursor again and pressing F2 again.
The F12 key used alone or in combination with other keys can be used to define by line, word, sentence, or paragraph, or to define a block of text from the cursor to a specified character.
Press ESC to clear all defined blocks.
