Database Size Limitations |
|
Ibidem allows a virtually unlimited number of records. The original 32,000 record limit was expanded to 64,000, and then to over sixteen million (16,777,215, to be precise).
If you insert a record and later delete it, you do not regain use of that record number. As a result of deletions, there will normally be gaps in record numbers.
Information entered in each Ibidem record is limited to 64k, including data in all fields. There is therefore no technical problem with storing many pages of text in one or more Ibidem fields. However, instead of using Ibidem fields for long annotations or extensive reading notes or quotes related to the current work, we recommend using Ibidem’s linked note-taking file option. This creates a separate Nota Bene file that is linked to that record. This gives you full access to all of the formatting and structuring options available in Nota Bene, while making that file easily searchable by Orbis. Beyond that, in note-taking files, you can easily enter smart page references (to the quotations you might want to include) in those notes, so that when that paragraph is retrieved in an Orbis search, and then copied into another Nota Bene file, this source citation will go with it.
