Conjectural characters can be added to or removed from a block of text or a single character as follows:
| 1 | Highlight the block that you want to change or type a letter. |
| 2 | Click Tools, Lingua, Conjectural Characters (or press Ctrl+Shift+J). |
| 3 | The Conjectural Characters dialog will appear on your screen. Select the conjectural character to be added. |
Over dots, under dots, over rings or under rings used in uncertain or conjectural readings can also be inserted with the compose key (F6) by typing a character, pressing F6 and then one of the following:
| • | For an over dot, press the period key |
| • | For an under dot, press the Shift with the period key |
| • | For an over ring, press the forward slash key |
| • | For an under ring, press the Shift with the forward slash key |
