Compose Key: Other Characters

 

The compose key (F6) is used with characters other than letters or numbers to enter a wide variety of different characters. If you have the Lingua module, there will be more options available.  

 

The chart below summarizes the kinds of characters that can be entered with the compose key (F6).  Type the character in the left column, followed by F6, to display a pop-up screen with options as indicated in the right column.  Find the character that you would like to insert and double click or type the letter in the small yellow box corresponding to the character that you want to enter.  Nota Bene will transform the first character you typed into the character that you select.  For more detailed general instructions on how to use the compose key, see Compose key)

Example:  To type a bullet, type * then press F6.  The pop-up screen will show several bullets.  Transform the * into the solid triangular bullet in the square marked 7 by typing 7 or by double clicking on the bullet that you select.  To enter the bullet the next time, you do not need to wait for the pop-up screen if you remember that you want bullet number 7.  Just type *, F6, 7 and Nota Bene will transform the * into the solid triangular bullet that you selected.
