ASCII Characters

ASCII characters (DOS charset) can be entered by holding the Ctrl and Shift buttons down while you enter the number of the ASCII character. You have to keep holding down Ctrl+Shift to input characters higher than ASCII 0-9. Thus, for ASCII 75, you press Ctrl+Shift, keep the keys pressed down, and press 7, then 5, and only then release Ctrl+Sh. If you release between 7 and 5, you'll get ASCII 7 and ASCII 5.

You can convert a file to ASCII by clicking File, Save As and selecting ASCII in the formats box of the Save As dialog. Formatting codes will be removed and the file will be saved as a TXT file using the ASCII character set.

ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. The ASCII character table is available in many places on the Internet.
