The Show Results box at the bottom of the Archiva On-Line Library Search dialog is used to select where you want the library search results to be displayed. The available options are:
| • | In Archiva (Overwrite Existing) — Results of the last library search are deleted, and only results for the new search shown. This is recommended for regular searches, when you are just trying to find a book. |
| • | In Archiva (Retain Any Existing) — Results from previous library searches are retained, with the new results added to the end. This is recommended if you are trying to accumulate works for your database. |
The results of your Z39.50 search will be displayed in differently depending on your selection in the Show Results box. The first two options (in Archiva) show:
| • | The results in Archiva, shown as an Ibidem database |
| • | All the results at once (as they are retrieved) |
| • | The results already converted into Ibidem format |
The third option (in Web Browser) shows:
| • | The results in your web browser (as though you had started the search from the local library, outside Archiva) |
| • | Only the specified number of results per page (usually 20 or 25)—you have to click to see the next page |
| • | The results unconverted (in native Z39.50 format) |
To capture records shown in this third mode, you would need to highlight the desired records and then copy them.
