The vast majority of libraries allow public access with no log in requirements. However, if your library does require log in, you can enter your log in information.
Library searches in Archiva use the Z39.50 protocol, and the Z39.50 protocol supports three kinds of authentication: Anonymous, Open and IDPass. Anonymous does not require any authentication. Open requires User ID and Password. ID Pass requires User ID and Password and may also require a Group ID.
To add log in parameters:
| 1 | Click Tools, Archiva, Search On-Line Libraries. The Search Pane will open with Web Libraries selected. |
| 2 | If your library is already listed at the top of the search pane, click to select it. If it is not listed, you will need to either add it (see step 2 in Search On-Line Libraries) or add it as a new library (see Add New Library). |
| 3 | Click the Properties tab (if it is not already the active tab). |
| 4 | At the bottom of the dialog, on the right side, you will see Optional Login/Authentication Parameters. Use the dropdown list to select the mode of authentication. If you do not know whether to select Open or ID Pass, you can ask your librarian, or you can make a guess, see if it works and if not, try the other one. |
| 5 | Fill in the information your User ID, Password and (if applicable) Group ID and click Apply. |
