HIGHLIGHTS IN
NOTA BENE 14
|
As most of you have already heard, a new release of Nota Bene, version 14, is now available. This version contains advanced — not incremental — capabilities aimed straight at users' expressed needs in research and writing. Just a couple or so will leave you impressed....
First, an overhauled Orbis gives automatic access to frequently used sets of files for instant searching without any user intervention. None. Install version 14, open it, and search the 100 most recently edited NB files, or all files in a given folder, or other automatically created textbases. Easy. It all happens almost instantly, so you don't need to wait. Fast. The traditional user-defined textbases are still available, and now easier to create. Simple. To crown it off, Orbis now comes in an additional interface mode — Popup Orbis — that keeps your search activities accessible right alongside your documents for an uninterrupted writing-and-finding work flow. Brilliant.
Next, the basic functions of Archiva are now part of the main program. This gives Ibidem expanded capabilities for on-line bibliographic research. Not only are on-line library searches available with the included behind-the-scenes Z39.50 client, you can capture citations from sites such as JStor, Project Muse, and EBSCO (using your university or other subscription). Importing and exporting files to/from RIS/Zotero is now possible. And, as always, all data is tightly integrated into both the word processor and Orbis.
And one more thing: When DOCX files involving research documents are opened, users are guided through an quick and easy conversion path so they become native Nota Bene files, styled by one of the selections from Nota Bene's famed academic styles library. Simultaneously, users can now have the Zotero-based citations added to their Ibidem databases, turning them into dynamic citations and reference lists. Really.
There is a whole lot more that will extend your research and writing options, while making everything easier. For details, see the Nota Bene web site.
Thank you for your interest. We are confident that you will be as excited by the new Nota Bene 14 as are others in the NB community who have already upgraded!
