Orbis and Ibidem Tutorials
in PDF Format

Two of the most useful and powerful parts of Scholar's Workstation and Lingua Workstation are Orbis and Ibidem. The Orbis and Ibidem tutorials include a general overview and a series of exercises that demonstrate how to use the programs. Numerous screen shots help to visualize the many benefits of these powerful programs. The files on this page are PDF versions of the printable tutorial files that come with the program. To display them, you will need to have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader installed.

Ibidem is a bibliographic database that will store all of your bibliographic data (title, author, publisher, etc.) and generate properly formatted citations and bibliographies as you write. The Ibidem tutorial has been rewritten for version 10 and is completely up-to-date.

Orbis is a multi-file search and text-retrieval program that can search all your note-taking files, papers, and other documents and instantly find what you need as you are writing (no need to remember file names). The NB 10 Orbis tutorial is not yet available but will be coming soon. Please check back here for updates. The tutorial posted now is based on versions 8 and 9 of Nota Bene. It will give you a good idea of how Orbis works, but it is better to read through the tutorial, rather than trying to follow step-by-step instructions. For an outline of some to the changes, please see the release notes on NB 10 Orbis.
