View, Edit & Incorporate Captured Citations |

As Archiva captures and converts bibliographic records, they are automatically added to a Captured Records database. This can happen invisibly, in the background—the Archiva icon on the system tray will blink each time a record is captured. (You can then display all captured records anytime you would like simply by clicking on that icon.) Or—for a more dramatic view—if the Captured Records databases is open, you can see the captured records in Archiva in real-time, as you capture them! Either way: ![]() This is an unretouched screen shot—all records are shown exactly as captured The Archiva: Captured Records (Web Search) screen is similar to the regular Ibidem screen: In addition, the Archiva: Captured Records screen brings you a whole new set of capabilities. You can: And then, when you’ve decided which of the records you’ve been collecting (in an hour, during the day, or over the course of the last week) you actually want to keep, you can simply select those records in Archiva, pick the name of the database to which you want to add them, and click Append. It’s that simple. NOTE: Archiva does an extremely good job of capturing data and inserting it into the correct fields. At the same time, Archiva is only as good as the data it is trying to capture (and some data on some sites is not very well structured). But since you can watch the records getting captured in real-time—and since Archiva lets you edit records immediately—you can make any necessary corrections very easily. (For well structured sites, this should normally not be necessary.) |
